Binder & Sons in the Community
As a business that serves the people in our local community, we feel it is important to help and and get involved in local activities and events as much as we possibly can.
Harold Hill Wombles
This group of amazing volunteers, walk around our local communities helping to keep our streets looking clean.
Michelle and her ever growing team started Harold Hill Wombles over a year ago after being inspired by the Wickford Wombles and local Deer Aid support. They have since become local community Heroes and it is our absolute pleasure to support their efforts and their cause.
You will often see the bright pink high-vis team out and about around the local streets and green areas.
We like to keep them safe and noticed by passing traffic.
If you would like to help join in click the link to their facebook page where you can make contact with Michelle and the admin team.
Wellgate Community Farm
Wellgate farm is a fabulous hidden treasure, hidden locally in Collier Row.
As animal lovers, we love to visit the farm and go and see all the new goings on. We are known to take down lots of treats for the animals as well as help the farm by purchasing some much needed supplies from their amazon wishlist.
Funding can be very tough at times for this local gem, so any help and support is always much appreciated, even by simply popping along to visit them.
They also run some great initiatives which are well worth checking out if you have some young ones yourself who would be interested in volunteering, as well as lots of fun days and activities for families to get involved in.
Click the link below if you would like to check out their website and see what they bring to our local community.
Safe space
You will find this logo above our shop door and among a few others locally, as we all rallied together to think of ways to create a space where our young or vulnerable people could go, if they felt they were at risk.
Anyone who is worried for themselves or others, could come to us, where they can use our telephone to contact the emergency service, parents or someone to collect them etc
As a community in these trying times, its so important that we all do our part to look after each other.
Our safe space idea was featured in the Romford Recorder to let the community know we are always here to help.
Army Cadet Force
With Wayne & Sam’s long running history within the Army Cadet Force, it was their privilege to design an annual award and present a trophy for the ‘most improved cadet’.
This award was for cadets at 42 Detachment, parading at Drapers Academy. The cadet who was judged to have contributed a huge amount of effort to the detachment and in their own personal growth over the course of the year is presented with the award.
The Army Cadet Force is a great organisation that promotes discipline, teamwork, and builds confidence in the young people who attend.
TRA Walking Football Team
TRA Romford are in the Essex walking football league. The Team was set up a few years ago to prove that just because age is no longer on your side, it doesnt mean you cant play football anymore! Walking football is for those over 50 years of age, and is exactly what it says it is… walking football.
Binder & Sons have been a very proud to sponsor of the TRA Romford Walking football team, as walking football gives those who may not be able to play regular football a chance to get out and experience just the same amount of fun, sportmanship and team spirit. Its also a great way to keep active and social.
The team have been very successful and been league champions a few times over the years.
SSAFA
Our lovely Wayne has done some great work with SSAFA, The armed forces Charity. With Wayne’s many years in the Army Cadet Force, he has had the pleasure of seeing many of the cadets go on to serve in the military.
SSAFA, is a charity set up to provide all types of support and assistance to members of the armed forces, Veterans and their families.
Over the years, Wayne hosted ‘big brew up’ for SSAFA’s Romford Branch, to support the great work they do locally for servicemen/women, ex-servicemen/women and their families.
He has also enjoyed many phone calls with elderly Veterans who are unable to get out and about, giving them some much needed socialising, and it’s always such a pleasure listening to the amazing stories they have to share.
If you feel that you or someone you care about, could be in need of SSAFA’s support, or if you would be interested in joining their cause, click the link below.
Fetes and Community events
You may often see us helping out at local fundraising events, creating little games or activities for people to join in and put the FUN in fundraising, or donating to raffle prizes, gifting game winners prizes or just simply helping out with the general clearing up after these events.
All of the monies raised from these events, goes to great causes including St Francis Hospice, local primary schools and The Fire Brigade.
You can find out more about some of these events by looking on our facebook page, If you are looking for any help in the community events, please feel free to speak to a member of our team and we will always see what we can do to help.
